PennyWise Financial was founded by David Bassanese who is currently best known as a senior columnist with the Australian Financial Review, where is “Bassanese” column on economic and financial market trends appears three times per week. He also writes a monthly column for Smart Investor magazine.
Prior to joining the AFR, David spent several years in financial markets as a senior economist and interest rate strategist at Bankers Trust and Macquarie Bank.
David started his career at the Federal Treasury in Canberra, after which he spent several years as a research economist at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris, France.
David has a first-class 4-year First-Class honours degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide, and a 2-year Masters in Public Policy degree from Harvard University in the United States.
